When I was in 3rd grade my grandma was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Shortly thereafter she was also diagnosed with leukemia. I still remember going to the Zangmeister Center here in Columbus with my Mom for my grandma’s appointments and chemo treatments. Even at such a young age, I was able to see the effects the treatments had on my grandma, but never quite understood what was going on.
A few years later my mom wasn’t able to continue working and keep up with all of my grandma’s appointments and treatments so she quit her job to help care for her mom. I vividly remember the day she went into septic shock and was given less than a 5% chance to live. She battled through this to live an additional 2 years but eventually passed away when I was in 8th grade from both multiple myeloma and leukemia, as well as pneumonia in both of her lungs.
Without the help of my mom, my grandma would never have lived as long as she did; getting to her appointments, treatments, her life-saving medications, etc. It’s fantastic to work for a company that takes away the worry and burden of getting those potentially life-saving medications!
